Senior Interior Designer – Hospitality

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for helping lead, manage, plan, design, specify and furnish within the scope of the client approved budgets for a variety of hospitality interior environments.

Is present at owner, construction, and consultant meetings. Oversees FFE scope tasks from design and selection through bid process, coordinating with specific client and project needs.

Works closely with Director of Design and project managers to ensure a positive and successful client experience.

The primary job responsibilities for this position are:

  • Participate in all phases of interior design projects including programming, schematic design, design development, FF&E and construction documentation.
  • Create space plans and furniture layouts, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations and section detailing.
  • Selection of design elements including fabrics, furniture, finishes, window treatments and lighting.
  • Write accurate product specifications, budgets, and change orders.
  • Submit material and finish specifications to franchises.
  • Help oversee the activities and documents of the design team.
  • Client meetings; present design concepts and lead presentations.
  • Reports directly to Director of Design.

Requirements for this position are:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to convey project information to coworkers, clients and vendors.
  • Revit and AutoCAD REQUIRED
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites (e.g., InDesign & Photoshop).
  • Strong MS Office Skills: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficient in Excel.
  • Demonstrated understanding of FF&E selection and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of commercial building codes
  • Ability to create space plans and room layouts
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills with the ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities.
  • Detail oriented with accurate data entry skills.
  • Resourceful and have strong retention and recall abilities.
  • Thorough with the ability to proofread own/others work products.
  • Proven ability to meet project timelines.

Education and Experience:

  • Professional Degree in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited school.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience working in a hospitality commercial design firm.
  • Commercial interior design and/or construction knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of furniture manufacturing industry and/or purchasing experience a plus.
